Maloney Brings COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics to Senior Housing Communities

Wellesley, MA – February 26, 2021 – Maloney Properties has organized COVID-19 vaccine clinics at senior housing communities across Massachusetts and Vermont. So far the vast majority of our senior residents have been vaccinated at 24 properties as part of this initiative.

“My staff and I were very grateful to be able to provide our residents the opportunity to be vaccinated in their own home. Due to the mobility challenges that our seniors face, this was a very good opportunity for some who may otherwise not have gotten vaccinated.” –Grisel Laboy, Property Manager, Riley House

“We’re so pleased to bring these vaccine clinics to our senior housing communities. Seniors face serious risks from both the coronavirus and from the isolation that so many are experiencing as a result of the pandemic. Having vaccine clinics onsite ensures that each and every resident has an equal opportunity to access these life-saving resources.”
—Janet Frazier, President/CEO, Maloney Properties, Inc.

Maloney staff conducts extensive outreach to build awareness of this important opportunity for senior housing residents. In addition to posting and delivering announcements, staff members also organize, promote and conduct advance sign-up sessions with comprehensive translation services to ensure that every resident has full access to the program.

“From the moment the clinic is scheduled with CVS, our work goes into overdrive. Everyone involved pulls together to make sure the space is ready and all the paperwork is in order to ensure that the clinic runs smoothly. It’s a challenge, but we’re getting it done!”
—Emily Robbins, Vaccine Clinic Coordinator, Riley House

The vaccinations are administered by CVS, but the clinics are staffed by 6-10 volunteer support personnel, based on the size of the community. These volunteers set-up the space and ensure residents arrive on schedule and stay socially distanced and masked. They also offer essential assistance with insurance paperwork, and they observe and check-in with each resident following their vaccination to ensure there are no adverse reactions. Additionally, many clinics have translation services available, depending on the needs of the community.

“This has been such a great opportunity for our residents. Everyone is looking forward to the possibility of seeing loved ones and enjoying safe social events again. Everything won’t go right back to normal, but life will improve and we will once again be a positive and thriving community at Rose Hill Manor.”
—Karyn Kane-Freitas, Senior Property Manager, Rose Hill Manor
